Dr. Laurie Marker Returns for a Special Appearance
with “Jungle” Jack Hanna at Meet-ah Cheetah Event October 17th

October 3, 2103 (Alexandria, VA) -- Oklahoma City area residents will have a special opportunity to meet one of the world’s foremost experts on cheetahs, Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director of the Cheetah Conservation Fund. Dr. Marker will be joined by television personality “Jungle” Jack Hanna and an ambassador cheetah, courtesy of the Columbus Zoo. It all happens October 17th, at the Meet-ah Cheetah Party.

The exclusive Meet-ah Cheetah event is hosted by Oklahoma City residents Cheryl & Paul Clements, Carol & Gary Sander, and CCF USA Trustee Vicky Gourley as a fundraiser for the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF). Jack Hanna and ambassador cheetah Moya are appearing as special guests. The event will also feature a silent auction, and an opportunity to participate in an exclusive drawing for a pair of earrings donated to the event by Neiman Marcus’s Dallas Downtown Anachristy McCallister Precious Jewels Salon and jewelry designer Margot McKinney.

Dr. Marker will be available for in-person media appearances and interviews. Please contact CCF Communications Coordinator, Liz Georges at (703) 402-5354 to schedule an interview.

Dr. Marker will be discussing her work at CCF, the global leader in cheetah conservation and research. CCF’s conservation operations are headquartered in Namibia, which has the largest portion of the world’s 10,000 remaining cheetahs. CCF’s programs include its celebrated Livestock Guarding Dog Programme, which reduces human-animal conflict by providing local farmers with an alternative way to protect their livestock and livelihood rather than shooting cheetahs. These predator–friendly techniques can potentially assist with conflicts with other species like wolves and bears. CCF also participates in genetic research and cheetah re-wilding and re-introduction efforts.
