Award-Winning Cheetah Expert Dr. Laurie Marker to Sign Copies of A Future for Cheetahs at San Francisco's Wildlife Expo and Book Passage Bookstore
SAN FRANCISCO (Sept. 30, 2015) – Dr. Laurie Marker, Founder and Executive Director of Cheetah Conservation Fund, the longest running cheetah conservation organization in existence, will be making two weekend appearances in the Bay Area in October to promote her book about the perils facing this iconic species, A Future for Cheetahs. On Saturday, Oct. 10, Dr. Marker will be at The Wildlife Conservation Expo, an event bringing together many of the world’s leading conservation biologists all under one roof, and on Sunday, Oct. 11, Dr. Marker will appear at Book Passage at 4 p.m. to speak and sign copies of her book.
A Future for Cheetahs, with text by Dr. Marker and photographs by award-winning wildlife photographer Suzi Eszterhas, allows readers to experience life on the African savanna through the eyes of the cheetah. The history and unique biology of this magnificent cat is conveyed with words as captivating as the photos, which include some of the most rare and beautiful images of the species ever taken. The messages delivered in the book are equally compelling, especially explanations of the holistic conservation initiatives that are key to the species’ very survival.
“Can you imagine a world without cheetahs? I cannot, and this is what drives me in my conservation work, and is also what drove me to create this book,” said Dr. Marker. “I want as many people as possible to see the cheetah through my eyes, to appreciate them for being the mystical creatures they are, and to come together in the fight to save them.”
Wildlife Expo attendees can meet Dr. Marker at Cheetah Conservation Fund’s booth from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and learn more about the cheetah directly from one of the world’s leading experts. Copies of A Future for Cheetahs will be on sale at the booth, and Dr. Marker will be available to autograph them.
